Start Building Excitement for School Before the Year Even Starts!
If you are wanting to build rapport at the very beginning of the school year you will LOVE these fun, positive (slightly silly) letters from teacher to students!
I just love checking the mailbox.
Even as a long-time grown-up, even amidst the piles of bills and junk mail, my heart races a little bit when I see my name handwritten on an envelope.
Is there anything better than receiving something in the mail just for you? That someone took the time to address and place in the mailbox with the flag up?
Well, maybe a massage. And good wine. And spinach-artichoke dip. But getting mail ranks right up there in my book.
As soon as I receive my class list I start putting together a welcome packet to send to each student in the mail.
The welcome packet consists of four basic pages:
- A letter from me
- A humorous poem
- 10 random things about your teacher
- A supply list
It takes a little bit of extra time and effort, but starting the year off on a fun, positive, exciting note is well worth it, IMO.

They’re all editable so you can go wild changing the wording, font, anything your little heart desires. The main point is to write something positive and plop it in the mailbox!
